TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS.
I'm Melissa, Creatrix of an online women's empowerment magazine called ROAR, Fierce Feminine Rising Magazine & Self-Love Fire Starter. A magazine centred around self-love and self-empowerment. We unleash with the Full Moons, to honour women's cycles and get women from around the globe to share their stories, magic and medicine. We also have a collective Sisterhood group online so the community and connection doesn't just stop at the magazine!
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
I started ROAR, Fierce Feminine Rising Magazine for many reasons that came together. I noticed the magazines out there were mostly advertisements and content that made women not feel good about themselves, to keep them in constant consumer mode. I also used to be a professional photographer and had made a casting call for Fierce Feminine Goddesses, to photograph women in warrior style looks and to tell their story of what made them fierce. I got such an overwhelming response and kept hearing how healing it was for them to write and share their story that I knew I needed to create a platform and sacred space for this to happen.
WHAT WAS ONE HIGH POINT FOR YOU?
One high point for me on this journey is hearing how the magazine has helped another Sister not feel alone and has been an integral part of their own healing journey.
WAS THERE EVER A SITUATION WHERE YOU WANTED TO GIVE UP? AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THAT (YOUR A-HA MOMENT)?:
Being a digital magazine is not always easy because there are not many of us out there but when I realized it is because we are ahead of the game, It gave me the passion and the drive to stay positive that I know it is just a matter of time.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING A B.A.B.E.?
One thing I love about being a B.A.B.E is being able to operate from my Divine Feminine Energy! I give myself permission to allow self-care first and to receive instead of hustle from the Divine Masculine to make things happen.
TELL ME 3 FUN FACTS ABOUT YOU.
I am also a stunt woman for film and tv.
I only have one cat but am still considered a crazy cat lady for my love of felines.
I was electrocuted in the womb. My Mom was a crazy hippy, climbing fences when she was pregnant and accidentally climbed an electrical one. LOL
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE US?
My one piece of advice is always make self-love a priority. So you can give from a place of overflow.
