TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS.
I am the founder of EverSavvy Financial. As an accounting, tax and financial advisory business, my mission is to help entrepreneurs and small business owners work smarter without having to worry about their finances. Through EverSavvy’s streamlined practices, the owner's time is freed up to drive business growth, while we take care of the finances and tax. Our comprehensive approach to your finances helps you make informed business decisions to optimize your growth and profitability. As a CPA with over 10 years experience in tax, accounting and finance, I feel like I have a lot to offer to help entrepreneurs and small business owners be set up for success.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
Over the years I have had many friends and family members approach me to help them with their personal and business finances and taxes. I really enjoyed working one-on-one with individuals and entrepreneurs and watching them learn and grow, and the feedback I received was always positive. Being truly appreciated and thanked for my contributions felt great. I found this type of work more rewarding than working with large multinational corporations and decided to turn this into my business.
WHAT WAS ONE HIGH POINT FOR YOU?
I have been blessed with many; but I will talk about my first. I started EverSavvy Financial a couple of years ago. I am not a marketing expert, did not have a large network of prospects, and did not know where and even if I would get my first client. One female entrepreneur heard about me and approached me to help get her business finances organized and to better understand how taxes work and how the decisions she makes can impact her overall return. She told me right from the start that I was not like the typical accountant and she felt comfortable speaking with me and trusted me with her finances. She was truly appreciative and grateful for what I had to say and offer. After this, I realized that I could really help business owners optimize their situations and that there was a demand for what I had to offer which felt amazing. This gave me the momentum to transition from the corporate world to focus on my business.
WAS THERE EVER A SITUATION WHERE YOU WANTED TO GIVE UP? AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THAT (YOUR A-HA MOMENT)?:
There have been moments where I have questioned my decision to start my own business; however, when I get messages from clients needing my help and being truly appreciative of my efforts I know that I made the right choice. When I worked at big corporations, even managing the entire tax and accounting department saving the company millions of dollars, I never felt the same satisfaction and appreciation as I have when I see a client grow, or when a client sends me a thank you email, or writes me a review. There is just something so special about that.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING A B.A.B.E.?
I LOVE being a B.A.B.E. I am inspired by what other B.A.B.E.s are doing and being a part of this community has been very positive. The support I have received from other B.A.B.E.'s has been tremendous and is one of the main reasons I started my business.
TELL ME 3 FUN FACTS ABOUT YOU.
The first tax return I prepared for someone else was at the age of 12.
I have visited over 30 countries.
I am a choco-holic. (I have stashes in my desk, my purse, my car, pockets - everywhere!)
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE US?
Look before you jump. Plan ahead when making a big decision like starting your own business. Do your research and bring in the proper partners early to be set up on the right path.
