TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS.
My name is Juliette, I am the co-founder of Scandaleuse Photography, which is a boudoir photography business in Toronto. Our goal is to encourage women to reconnect with their body and mind to get one step closer to the best version of themselves.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
I founded Scandaleuse with my best friend Fanny. Through of photography careers, we noticed that we’ve always worked on highlighting real women and their bodies. The impact of a photography session is a very powerful tool but underestimated. It can really change your life. So we wanted to show it, loud and clear and made it official by opening our business.
WHAT WAS ONE HIGH POINT FOR YOU?
Oh so many! Seeing our first client breakthrough after their photoshoot. Seeing them changing their lives to be who they want to be, without caring about other people’s opinions. Those are always so rewarding. And also, getting published, being on the radio… every occasion we had to spread the word.
WAS THERE EVER A SITUATION WHERE YOU WANTED TO GIVE UP? AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THAT (YOUR A-HA MOMENT)?:
Give up, no. Panicky situation, yes, last month actually. Money was tight. That’s when having a business partner is helpful, you can rely on each other. We overcame it by focusing on creating new projects, and we kept trying and trying until one picked up. Which it did!
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING A B.A.B.E.?
I love the fact that I can talk about anything without being judged and how B.A.B.E is a source of inspiration. Through everyone’s story, I can relate to a bunch and it’s always helpful. Women accomplish great things, but when we work together, we are unstoppable. And I will always be here to show my support.
TELL ME 3 FUN FACTS ABOUT YOU.
I’ve been doing aerial silks for the past 5 years and I recently starting pole dancing, both as self-taught.
I am originally from France and moved to Toronto 6 years ago and met the love of my life here
I am a plant addict, and only a third of them die. I am working on those statistics 😉
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE US?
Communication, honesty and confidence are some the best tools you need to tame and cherish. They’ll help you through everything in your life, professionally or personally. You gotta work on yourself and become your best ally to move forward.
