TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS.

My name is Ayesha and I have my own law practice which specifically works with entrepreneurs and freelancers specializing in business and social media law. As a creative person myself, I love working with creative individuals helping them protect their budding businesses.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

I wanted to start my own practice because I wanted to make legal services accessible, less intimidating and cost efficient. I believe that it is so important to make sure your business is legally sound from the beginning but I feel that traditional law firms/lawyers are intimidating, expensive, don’t understand social media as a business tool and I wanted to take that away and make it feel like your lawyer is someone who wants to help your business succeed!

WHAT WAS ONE HIGH POINT FOR YOU?

A high point for me was when a client reached out to me because she saw my business Instagram and automatically felt like I was a lawyer who would understand her business needs and someone who was approachable.

WAS THERE EVER A SITUATION WHERE YOU WANTED TO GIVE UP? AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THAT (YOUR A-HA MOMENT)?:

At the beginning I thought, “maybe I’ve made a mistake?” Giving up a steady salary was scary and I thought maybe I’m kidding myself and I should just find another job. Not having many clients in the beginning made it even harder to think I made the right decision. Thankful I reached out to a few colleagues who had been in my position, they all told me it gets better, you just have to keep pushing - those starting out jitters are normal. They were right!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING A B.A.B.E.?

Being a B.A.B.E. has made me feel so empowered to be running my own business! Calling all the shots is both terrifying and exhilarating! Being a part of a community of like minded women is incredible.

TELL ME 3 FUN FACTS ABOUT YOU.

  1. I am an obsessive dog-mum!

  2. I went to law school in London, England (the same law school as Margaret Thatcher!) - living there was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!

  3. I’m working on a book!

WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE US?

Always do what makes you happy. It does not serve you to keep any sort of negativity in your life. Clear the clutter and make room for all the amazing opportunities that will present themselves!
